History / corporate structure

Ralph and Gabriele Koopmann laid the foundation stone for the group of companies in 1969 when they founded a small print shop in Braak near Hamburg . In 1972 the print shop moved to its current headquarters in Witzhave.

RAKO ETIKETTEN initially produced self-adhesive labels and expanded the product portfolio in 1984 by founding the subsidiary Flexiket GmbH, which specialized in the subsequent imprint of already existing and die-cut adhesive labels (e.g. numbering of the variety) within 48 hours.

The product portfolio was further expanded in 1989 with the establishment of Folienprint RAKO GmbH, which specializes in the manufacture of flexible packaging and shrink sleeves.

In 1995 the third focus, security technologies, was added. Initially, the Hologram Company was able to offer security holograms and technologies to protect the products against counterfeiting, counterfeiting and product piracy . At a later point in time, the product portfolio was expanded to include electronic article surveillance and RFID systems (RAKO Security-Label Produkteicherungs GmbH) and security labels for the airline industry (Security Label GmbH).

In the field of self-adhesive labels, several subsidiaries have been added in Germany, but also in France , Switzerland , China and South Africa .
