Lists on the subject |
RBS 23 BAMSE is a medium-range air defense system made in Sweden . The manufacturer is SAAB Bofors Dynamics . The operational area includes the protection of military facilities and own troops, as well as other important objects. The missile was specially developed to combat small, faster targets such as enemy missiles, cruise missiles or UAVs .
System description
The system consists of a Surveillance and Control Center (SCC) and up to six Missile Control Centers (MCC).
Surveillance and Control Center
The Surveillance and Control Center (SCC) contains an Ericsson PS-70 Giraffe 3D reconnaissance radar, which is mounted on a 8-13 m high mast. One SCC can coordinate up to four MCCs.
In this configuration, the SCC can attack four targets with four guided missiles at the same time.
Missile Control Center
The Missile Control Center (MCC) are installed on trailers that can be pulled by different vehicles. The communication between MCC and SCC takes place either by radio or by cable. Each MCC contains a monopulse fire control radar that works in the Ka-band and an IR camera. The six anti-aircraft missiles per MCC have a horizontal range of 15 km and can attack targets up to 10,000 m. The system can be air-filled and is ready for use within 10 minutes.
