The first three electric rack -and- pinion railcars Bhe 2/4 of the Rigi-Bahnen (RB) were procured in 1937 by the then Vitznau-Rigi-Bahn (VRB) because the line was electrified with 1500 volts direct current . A fourth car was necessary because of the high transport requirements. However, due to the high costs, this could only be obtained in 1953.

Car body

In the car body there is a large 2nd class passenger compartment - hence the letter "B" - and two vestibules that contain eight folding seats, the driver's cab and the boarding platform. The two entrance doors only exist on the side facing Lake Lucerne . Each railcar can push a presentation car. In 1980 the railcar received 2 ski stands and in 1987 it was renovated.

technology

The two-axle motor bogie with the two motors and the brakes is on the mountain side. The running bogie on the valley side is also biaxial. The sequence of letters "he" means that it is a purely electric cogwheel vehicle.
