The KRC Mechelen is an association founded in 1904 Belgian football club from the city of Mechelen . The club is colored green and white.

history

Founded in 1904 as Racing Club de Malines , the club joined the Belgian Football Association in 1906, giving it matriculation number 24. The club's name has been changed three times in history. It was first given the title Société Royale as a suffix in 1929 . In 1937 the name was then translated from French into Dutch, which ultimately resulted in the full name Koninklijke Racing Club Mechelen .

Participation in the first division could be achieved for the first time in the 1910/11 season, which was completed in 8th place. In the following season you had to relegate back to the second division as 11th . In the last season before World War I , a second place could be achieved. The next season after that was only the 1919/20 season, but then again in the first division. This was followed only after the 1923/24 season resulting with the 12th place of renewed relegation to the second division. The ascent succeeded in the following season. This was followed by an up and down between the first and second division. After relegation to the second division due to the 1957/58 season, the first division could never be reached again. In the 1960s and once in the 2010s, the championship in the third division could still be achieved. The championship season was quickly followed by a relegation season. In between, you even found yourself in the fourth division in 2011. Since 2017, the club has also been represented in the fifth division for the first time.

The highest ranking in the club's history could then be achieved later in the 1951/52 season, in this season the league could be completed in second place in the table. Third places were already achieved in each of the two previous seasons. In 1954 you could qualify for the Belgian Cup final.
