The RMG 50 is a German heavy machine gun in. 50 BMG ( 12.7 × 99 mm NATO ), which has been in the testing phase since 2012. The RMG 50 was supposed to replace the Browning M2 HB . In addition, it should be possible to use high-performance ammunition. Construction began in 2008 and the first shot attempts took place in 2009. In 2012 the weapon was tested by the Bundeswehr. Series production and introduction have been postponed several times.

The RMG 50 is electrically powered and can be equipped with a single or double ammunition feed. The exchangeable tube is air-cooled. The cadence is adjustable and the shots fired are counted electronically. In the single shot / precision mode , the weapon is used in shooting mode.
