The wheelchair sports club Rollis 1985 Trier e. V. is an association for disabled sports based in Trier . The club is currently best known for its wheelchair basketball team , which plays in the wheelchair basketball Bundesliga under the name Doneck Dolphins Trier .

Structures

In 1982 a wheelchair basketball department was established at TV Germania Trier and a table tennis subdivision was established the following year . In cooperation with the major Trier sports club - TV Germania Trier , a wheelchair basketball department was founded in 1982! Otmar Passiwan acts as the head of the department, and Hilde Passiwan becomes the first specialist training manager after several training paths. A year later (1983) the table tennis subdivision was founded.

After differences with the parent club, the wheelchair sports club Rollis 1985 Trier e. V. as an independent association with the wheelchair basketball and table tennis departments. In 1997 a further department for children and youth sports was launched.

history

The wheelchair basketball team of the RSC-Rollis Trier first in 1986 in the 2nd Wheelchair Basketball Bundesliga South and in 1994 in the Wheelchair Basketball Bundesliga . In 1996 the club reached the DRS Cup final and in 1998 took part in the IWBF's European club competitions for the first time. The relegation from the wheelchair basketball Bundesliga in 2001 was followed by the second division championship and promotion again in 2003.

At national level, the RSC Rollis Trier reached the final round in the DRS Cup in 2004 and 2005, and in 2013 they took third place. In 2014 and 2016, the club qualified for the playoffs for the German championship and was eliminated in the semifinals.

At the international level, the club played again in 2008, qualified for the finals in the André Vergauwen Cup in 2012 and made it to the final of the Challenge Cup in 2013 . In 2015, the first team, now playing under the name Doneck Dolphins Trier, achieved the club's greatest success to date by winning the André Vergauwen Cup.

In the course of its history, the club provided numerous players from national teams. The best- known player is currently the German national player and multiple RBBL top scorer Dirk Passiwan .

Table tennis

history

In table tennis, the RSC Rollis Trier made it to the 2nd Bundesliga in team play in 1993, 1995, 2003 and 2006, but were only able to stay there for a short time. In 1994 Otmar Sauerwein won the German championship title in the individual competitions. After the game operations had largely come to a standstill due to the withdrawal of several players, restructuring began in 2014. They also organized a tournament for everyone
