Raúl Alberto Salinas (born October 16, 1978 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .

career

Salinas began his professional career at his "hometown club" Club America , for which he was used for the first time in the spring of 2002 in a league game in the top Mexican division . It was a made-to-measure debut, because Club America won the championship title in the same season ( Verano 2002) and Salinas was part of the squad of the championship team (as it did later again in Clausura 2005) .

Although Salinas was under contract with Club America until 2007 and had completed a total of 89 league games by 2006, he did not succeed in moving up into the regular formation. He was therefore first loaned to city rivals UNAM Pumas and then to their own farm team, Socio Águila , before being sold to Club Necaxa . With the Necaxistas, however, he was only under contract for a short time and did not complete a single league game. From then on Salinas only played in the second division : first with the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz , then with the Alacranes de Durango and most recently with Atlante UTN .
