Rab Joseph

Rab Joseph (Rab Joseph bar Hiyya; † 333 ) was an important Amoraim 3rd generation.

biography

He was a student of Rab Huna and Rab Jehuda , because of his extensive knowledge of the traditional law he was honored by the name Sinai .

After Rabbah's death he is said to have headed the school in Pumbedita . He is also credited with editing an Aramaic (partial) translation of the Bible; he is also known as a merkabah mystic.
