Rab Nachman
Rab Nachman bar Jakob (Raw Nachman ben Jakob), usually simply Rab Nachman , was a 3rd generation Amora in Babylon.
He was a pupil of Samuel (according to some also a pupil of Rab ), with whom his father held the position of clerk of the court. Nachman was the son-in-law of Rabba b. Abuha (and also his pupil?) In Mahuza and host of the Palestinian Isaac II. In his house there was a lot of activity with Masora .
Nachman did not run his own school / yeshiva, but was a frequent participant in the discussions of the schools / yeshivot in Sura and Mahuza .
He cannot always be precisely distinguished from his pupil Rab Nachman bar Isaak .
He died in 320.
