Rabah Bitat
Rabah Bitat ( Arabic رابح بيطاط, DMG Rābaḥ Bīṭāṭ ; * December 19, 1925 in Aïn El Karma ; † April 10, 2000 in Paris ) was an Algerian politician and briefly President of Algeria.
Political career
Bitat became president on December 27, 1978 after the death of his predecessor Houari Boumedienne . He held this office until February 9, 1979, the shortest term of office of a president in Algeria.
Bitat was a member of the Front de Liberation Nationale party .
