bully

Bully is a slang term for a rude person (cf. Rüpel and Brute ), it is used jokingly especially for naughty children.

The word goes back to the old French ribaut , “ Lüstling , whore bock ” (cf. French ribaud ) via Dutch rabauw “rogue, tramp ” . It has been common in German colloquial language since around 1900.
