Rabirius
Rabirius was the name of a Roman family ( gens ) attested from the late republic . Even if a senatorial rank was available, there is little information about the members, with only one member who occupied a higher role, is known and though Gaius Rabirius Postumus , the one Preatur was about a year from 48 to 47 v. Chr.
origin
Most of the Rabirius lived in Italy and a large family of them lived in Tusculum , an ancient city near Rome.
Well-known namesake are:
- Rabirius (philosopher) , popularizing philosopher named by Cicero in the 1st century BC Chr.
- Gaius Rabirius , Roman senator, from Cicero 63 BC. Defended;
- Gaius Rabirius Postumus , Roman knight, later senator, by Cicero approx. 54 BC. Defended;
- Rabirius (poet) , epicist of the Augustan period.
- Rabirius (architect) , architect of imperial palaces under Domitian
