Winterthur cycling club

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cycling Club Winterthur is a cycling club from Winterthur that was founded on September 7, 2012 . It represents an amalgamation of the ATB Winterthur (founded in 1906), which was previously more oriented towards popular sports, and the more competitive cycling section of the RV Winterthur (founded in 1910). The first elected president is the former ATB chairman Thomas Reist. The newly founded club is the third largest cycling club in Switzerland after RMV Altdorf and RMV Mosnang .

As of the 2013 season, the club took over all the teams from the two founding clubs and competed in the new season with an NLA club ( Marcel Waldispühl / Peter Jiricek ) and two NLB clubs , among others . The Lion Cup and the Albani tournament were also newly organized by RC Winterthur. The second NLB team, however, was relegated in the 2014 season. The NLA team reached 3rd place in 2014.

The top team of RC Winterthur, Marcel Waldispühl / Peter Jiricek, will contest their last year of competition together in 2016 after an unusually weak 2015 season in which they did not reach the World Cup final tournament. In February they won the Swiss Cup for the first time. They won their seventh joint World Cup victory in Osaka in July 2016.
