Radio Blau is a non-commercial, free radio for the Leipzig region . Radio Blau is a full program with entertainment, education, information and advice. Airtime is currently limited to 49 hours a week. A large part of this is realized by so-called permanent broadcasters. Others may sporadically broadcast Radio Blau, for which free time slots are reserved in the program schedule every month.

Radio Blau is sponsored by the Radio-Verein Leipzig e. V., under whose roof the radio workshop is also housed.

Radio Blau mainly broadcasts its own productions. There is also an exchange of programs with other free radios throughout Germany via the audio portal of the Federal Association of Free Radios . Above all, the proximity to Radio Corax in Halle allows some production to migrate across national borders on both sides.

From the start of broadcasting on May 28, 1995 to September 30, 2004, Radio Blau broadcast a four-hour program on Sundays from 5 p.m. - at that time still in Leipzig on VHF 97.6 MHz and on cable on 93.6 MHz. From October 2004 to March 2007 Radio Blau broadcast with a significantly extended broadcasting time of 41 hours per week. Since then, there have been 49 hours a week that Radio Blau has been on the air.

program

Radio Blau is a platform for over 150 broadcasters from Leipzig and the region, and the program is accordingly diverse. From senior radio to sound art experiment, a large number of types of broadcast are represented, always accompanied by ideas that have not yet been experienced in the ether. From Monday to Friday there is the daily magazine “Aktuell” with news and articles from and about the city.

Like most of the almost 30 free radios in German-speaking countries, Radio Blau is mainly financed by members. The project is also funded (to a small extent) by public funds.
