Radio FREEQUENNS is a free radio in the Styrian Ennstal and produces a 24-hour live program. The studios are located on Kulturhausstraße in Liezen . The radio stations LIEZEN Salberg broadcast with 0.5623 kW (ERP) on 100.8 MHz, SCHLADMING 7 Planai with 0.0794 kW (ERP) on 104.0 MHz and ADMONT 3 Klosterkogel with 0.0501 kW (ERP) 103.0 MHz.

Radio FREEQUENNS started broadcasting on April 1, 1999 with the song Karmacoma by Massive Attack . The license holder is the association Cultur Centrum Wolkenstein (CCW), the radio operator is a branch association of the CCW, the art and media association Freequenns.

The Radio FREEQUENNS team consists mainly of volunteers who present music, topics that move the region, comedy , improvisation, social topics, nature and environmental protection, culture and art and much more in their programs .

Radio FREEQUENNS is also characterized by the peculiarity of being one of the few free radio stations in rural Austria. The technical range of the transmitter is around 55,000 residents ( Radstadt as far as Gesäuse and part of the Paltental ). Radio FREEQUENNS can also be received via an mp3 live stream on the Internet.

The 10-year license to design a terrestrial radio program was granted to the CCW on December 11, 1997. In April 2007 the license was put out to tender and Radio FREEQUENNS was awarded in December 2007 for a further ten years until April 1, 2018. Another issue of the broadcasting license took place with the decision on December 18, 2017 for a period of 10 years from April 2, 2018.

Due to the expansion of the broadcasting area and the new frequencies, Radio FREEQUENNS changed its logo in November 2007 and had a new corporate design created in order to remove the frequency of the parent station from the logo.

Radio Freequenns is a member of the Association of Free Radios Austria (VFRÖ) .
