Radio Rwanda

Radio Rwanda , the national radio station of Rwanda and the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency operated (RBA). It is one of the most important media in the country.

Present position

Radio Rwanda broadcasts in several languages: Kinyarwanda and English now take up the lion's share of broadcasting time. Programs in French and Swahili are also produced.

In addition to Radio Rwanda, the leading radio station in the country, the East African country also has several private stations such as Radio 10 , Flash FM , Contact FM , City Radio and Radio Izuba , as well as the religious station Radio Maria .

In addition to Radio Rwanda, the RBA also operates the state television broadcaster RTV (formerly TVR ).

Role in genocide

After the assassination of Rwandan President Habyarimana in April 1994, Radio Rwanda called for violence against the Tutsi on behalf of the newly installed interim government under the interim president Sindikubwabo during the genocide in Rwanda in 1994 and, like Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM), played an important role Role in genocide.
