Radio Stars was a British band. It was founded in London in 1977 and played melodic punk rock with influences from psychedelic rock and glam rock .
history
The band was founded by singer Andy Ellison, who had already played with Marc Bolan at John's Children , guitarist Ian MacLeod, bassist and composer Martin Gordon and drummer Steve Parry. In 1978 guitarist Trevor White joined them. The band members had already shared musical experiences in the group "Jet" and therefore quickly got a record deal with Chiswick Records .
The Radio Stars released several singles, including Radio Stars , Dirty Pictures and From A Rabbit . They released the two albums: Songs for Swinging Lovers and The Holiday Album . The singer of the band was known for his wild stage performances, during which he constantly jumped from the amplifier towers and landed knees first on the stage floor from a height of several meters. The radio stars supported Eddie & the Hot Rods in 1977 and 1978 .
With the single Nervous Wreck , the radio stars reached the UK charts, but the big success did not materialize. Shortly after Martin Gordon left the band in 1979, the other members also went their separate ways.
