Radio Televisão Timor Leste ( RTTL ; German: Rundfunk Osttimor ) is the state broadcasting company of East Timor .

The Presidents of the RTTL Executive Board are appointed by the government for four years. In January 2019 there was a scandal when the previous President Gil da Costa was dismissed after an audit in October 2018 and replaced by Francisco da Silva Gary . Costa blamed political reasons for trying to reduce political influence on the state broadcaster.

Radio
The radio program runs under the name Radio Timor-Leste (RTL). 34 programs in Portuguese , Tetum and Bahasa Indonesia are broadcast 16 hours a day. Seven percent of the radio program comes from external sources, the rest is produced by our own 57 employees.

Televisão de Timor Leste (TVTL; in Portuguese), or Televizaun Timor Lorosae (in Tetum), is the television branch of RTTL. In addition to programs it has produced itself, TVTL offers news from the Portuguese RTP Internacional , ABC's Australian Australia Network and the BBC's British World News . In September 2008 a collaboration was agreed with the Brazilian TV Globo .
In-house productions
Own productions often serve to further educate the local population. A cartoon series on the history of East Timor and a soap opera dealing with family planning were produced.
