Rafael Ampar

Rafael Schlaterowitsch Ampar ( Abkhazian Рафаель Амҧар ; Russian Рафаэль Шлатерович Ампар ; * 1964 ) is an Abkhazian politician.

life and career

Rafael Ampar was born in 1964 and when he was 13 he went to a sports boarding school in Rostov-on-Don . After graduating from school, he received a contract offer from the local SKA Rostov , but then decided to play at Dinamo Sukhum in Abkhazia. After health problems, he had to give up his career as a professional footballer. When his homeland Abkhazia became de facto independent in the early 1990s, Ampar worked for the newly founded Abkhaz Football Association. On March 24, 2005, he was appointed chairman of the State Committee for Youth and Sport, which corresponds to the office of ministers for sport and youth. After the presidential election in Abkhazia in 2011 , Ampar stepped down on October 28, 2011.
