Rafael Barroeta Baca

Rafael Barroeta Baca (* 1813 ; † 1880 ) was President of Costa Rica from December 2, 1873 to February 28, 1874 .

Life

His parents were Bárbara Enríquez Díaz Cabeza de Vaca y Palacios and Rafael Barroeta y Castilla (1766-1826). His sister was Rosalía Barroeta y Baca.

He married Isabel de la Guardia y Robles first and, when she died, María Trinidad Gutiérrez y La Peña-Monje.

Rafael Barroeta Baca was appointed deputy by Tomás Guardia Gutierrez in 1870 . He was executive president on several occasions.

Since he had no offspring, the Ministry of Finance used his inheritance to promote youth, which is why he is now considered a promoter of youth. A bust of him is in Parque España in the Amón district of San José (Costa Rica) .
