Rafael Ortega (boxer)

Rafael Ortega (* 25. September 1950 in Panama ) is a former Panamanian boxer in the featherweight .

professional

On January 24, 1970 he successfully made his professional debut with a points win against Roberto Javier. In January 1977 he became world champion of the WBA association when he defeated Francisco Toro Coronado over 15 rounds by unanimous decision. He defended this title at the end of March of the same year against Flipper Uehara and lost it on December 17th, also of the same year, against the Spaniard Cecilio Lastra by a split judge's decision.

In 1984 he ended his career.
