Rafsanjan ( Persian رفسنجان, also transcribed as Rafsanjan or Rafsanjan ; and also known as Bahrāmābād ) is a city in the Iranian province of Kerman and the capital of the Rafsanjan administrative district of the same name .

population

At the 2006 census, the population was 136,388 in 33,489 families. In 2005 it still had an estimated population of 134,848.

economy

Rafsanjan is the center of pistachio cultivation in Iran, the largest exporter in the world.

Rafsanjan is also a major center of carpet production , although the carpets are sold as Kermani carpets rather than Rafsanjani carpets. Another big employer are the nearby Sartscheschme - copper mines .
