Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of The Second (Korean: "라그나로크 온라인 2: Legend of the Second") is a new version of Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World , an MMORPG produced by Gravity Corp. in South Korea . Ragnarok Online 2 is the successor to the popular MMORPG Ragnarok Online .

The soundtrack will again be produced by Yoko Kanno , best known for her work on Cowboy Bebop , Ghost in the Shell and other anime series.

Emergence

Due to the fact that the original version of Ragnarok 2 ( Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World ) was poorly received in Korea, personnel changes were made in the management positions. This had a direct impact on the development of Ragnarok Online II , the development of which initially came to a practical standstill. Since then the game has been completely renewed. While the Unreal Engine 2.5 was still used in the old beta version of the game, the Gamebryo engine was used in the next version , which is probably also intended for use on game consoles such as Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 .

It wasn't until July 2010 that Gravity announced that the original version of Ragnarok 2 (RO2) will be discarded and a new version, Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of The Second, will give way. The new version should contact their predecessors, the MMORPG much stronger Ragnarok Online , hold.

Gravity's global business manager Yunghun Lee said:

“We launched Ragnarok II in 2007. That version wasn't really enough for the market, so we tried to revise all the systems, but it takes time. We changed the engine and everything, it's like a totally new game. The engine changed several times, but now we're using Gamebryo. "

The final launch of Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of The Second has been postponed to Q4 2010. The new version of Ragnarok Online 2 was originally planned for the first half of 2010, but the manufacturer Gravity decided to publish the game later in order to improve it in detail beforehand. The company planned to commercialize the game in Korea in Q4 2010, with other countries to follow later. Distribution contracts have already been signed in the other areas, so that the game has been made fast.

The first closed beta phase of Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of The Second began on August 31, 2010. Gravity intends to continue after the release of the open beta until the official market launch. The aim is to continue to improve the game with the help of feedback from beta testers through continuous updates. All players who were already in the old beta of Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World were allowed to participate in the new beta with their account data. Another short beta phase followed from January 25-28, 2011, before the second closed beta phase followed from July 13-18. The last closed beta in December 2011 was followed by an open beta in 2012. On May 2, 2013, Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of The Second was released on Steam.

Job system

The professions system of Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second is greatly from its predecessor, Ragnarok Online , affected.

First Class (starter class)
Swordsman Thief Archer Acolyte Mage Gunman
Second class
Knight Warrior Rogue Assassin ranger Beastmaster Priest monk Wizard Sorcerer Machinist Lasher

In addition to this occupation system, a dual life system was presented. This system makes it possible to choose a second job in addition to your main job. This secondary occupation actively affects the main occupation and gives the character special properties.

Lifestyle class
Alchemist Tailor Chef Blacksmith [blacksmith]

Card system

In an interview conducted with Gravity Co. , Ltd. CTO Jin-soo Jun, it was revealed that the well-known card system from Ragnarok Online will also be used in Legend of the Second. This time, however, the cards are not put into an item of equipment, as before, but attached directly to the character. The rationale for this change is as follows:
“In Ragnarok Online it was often the case that the rarity value of a weapon was practically no longer relevant. Since one could usually achieve a much higher penetration power and / or effectiveness with simple weapons, which were reinforced by powerful cards. This greatly reduced the actual value of the rare items. This also minimized the possibility of bringing new, meaningful content (armor and weapons) into the game. "

Pet system

Ragnarok Online's pet system will also return. As before, you will have the opportunity to tame monsters and always have them with you as a companion. Depending on the pet, you will also receive an increase in skills. In addition, as usual, if the pets are confidential, you can watch them perform tricks.

"Up to now there are no plans to let the pets fight."
