SpeedTree
SpeedTree , actually SpeedTreeRT , is a development environment from Interactive Data Visualization (IDV) for game developers and 3D designers, with which animated 3D trees can be integrated into games and multimedia software.
SpeedTree is a so-called middleware which, in addition to the creation of tree models in its own CAD system (SpeedTreeCAD), also masters the inclusion of wind effects and an automatic and stepless level of detail (LOD) in the model creation. The effects of dynamic incidence of light on the representation of a tree or entire forests can be represented with the help of vertex colors, as can the tree shadows.
The SpeedTree Engine can be licensed by software and game developers and integrated into their own products.
