Rai (unit)
The Rai ( in Thai: ไร่ ) is a common measure in Thailand for an area . The dimensions were redefined by law in 1923 and again on December 17, 1932.
In Thailand, it is the common measure of the size of fields and building land, both in colloquial language and in all state land title deeds. Architects also use the sizes of the international system of units .
- 1 rai = 1600 square meters
- 1 Rai = 400 square Wa (Tarang Wa)
- 1 rai = 4 ngan
- 1 rai = 16 ares = 0.16 hectares
- 1 km² = 625 rai
In a more symbolic sense, in the feudal society of Siam from the 15th century to 1899, Rai was also the unit in which the Sakdina , i.e. H. the social rank of a person was measured.
