Upadit Pachariyangkun

Upadit Pachariyangkun ( Thai : อุป ดิ ศ ร์ ปา จรี ยาง กู ร ; * December 10, 1920 in Bangkok ; † July 5, 2012 in Bangkok) was a politician and diplomat from Thailand . Thai Foreign Minister was between 1976 and 1980.

Upadit was employed in the Thai Foreign Ministry from 1942 and initially served in Berlin (1942 to 1945) and Bern (1946 to 1950). He completed his preliminary career abroad in 1960 as First Secretary of the Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires .

As early as 1949 Upadit was at the University of Bern in the subjects of Economic and Political Science PhD. In 1960 he came back to Thailand, where he was appointed head of the foreign trade department, later as general director of the entire economic department. In 1965 he was the representative of Thailand at the United Nations and on this occasion supported Resolution 2079 of the UN General Assembly on Tibet . From 1972 to 1973 he was ambassador to the Royal Thai Embassy in Bern, and from 1975 to 1977 he moved to the USA as ambassador .

From October 22, 1976 to February 11, 1980, Upadit was Thai Foreign Minister .
