Raimbaut d'Aurenga
Raimbaut d'Aurenga (French Raimbaud d'Orange, * c. 1144, 1156/71 attested; † 1173 ) called "le Troubadour d'Orange", was the first Provencal trobador and one of the most important poets of the Middle Ages. Numerous lyrical poems and some Sirventes have survived from him, as well as a Tenzone , a debate that he wrote together with Beatriz de Dia (Beatrix, Countess of Die ).
Life
Raimbaut d'Orange comes from a younger line of the family of the lords of Montpellier . His father was Guillem d'Omelaz (Guilhelm d'Aumelas), his mother Tiburge d'Orange, the heir to Count Raimbaut II. From 1156 Raimbaut u. a. Lord of Aumelas (Omelaz), Le Pouget , Montarnaud and Popian , in 1171 he inherited part of the Orange dominion .
