Raimund I. Roger (Carcassonne)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Raimund I. Roger ( French : Raymond Roger , occit : Ramon Roger ) († around 1011) was a Count of Carcassonne . He was the eldest son of Count Roger I the old and his wife Adeleis. The count is often referred to as Raimund Roger I , which is why his grandson Count Roger III. because of the same birth name Raimund Roger II. is called.

Raimund Roger was presumably given co-rule over Carcassonne by his father while he was still alive . But since Raimund Roger died before his father, his sons became the inheritance of Roger the old man.

Marriage and offspring

Count Raimund Roger was married to Garsinde (Garsendis), the heirloom of Wilhelm II. Vice Count of Béziers and Agde . Both children were:

  • Peter Raimund († around 1061), count of part of Carcassonne, vice-count of Béziers and Agde
  • Wilhelm Raimund († 1034), count of part of Carcassonne
