Rainbow Serpent

Rainbow Serpent is a German band from Oldenburg founded in 1994 by the two musicians Frank Specht and Gerd Wienekamp . Her style includes melodic and atmospheric electronic instrumental music with influences from the classical Berlin school , but occasionally also from artists such as Vangelis or Jean Michel Jarre .

history

Specht and Wienekamp met in 1990 at the Astronomy Regulars' Table in Oldenburg, from which the Astronomical Association of Oldenburger Sternfreunde ( AVOS ) emerged in 1992. Due to their common interests in electronics and music, they founded the formation "Rainbow Serpent" in May 1994 on the occasion of their own concert at the 1st Astrofest Sittensen (May 21-22, 1994 in Sittensen ). There they met label boss Arndt Maschinski from the now defunct label ARDEMA, who was responsible for the releases of Futuregate , Voyager , Mosaique and IV - The Sequel to Voyager .

Rainbow Serpent have been under contract with the electronic label Manikin Records since 2000 .

Rainbow Serpent meets Isgaard

In May 2008 a collaboration with Isgaard began , which was completed with the CD release Stranger in 2010.

The three CD-Rs Cosmo Vision , Cutted Scenes and Silver Blue released by SynGate in 2005 are not official albums, but collections of older, mainly live recordings. They contain both unreleased pieces and versions of tracks, some of which can be found under different names on one of the official albums.
