Rainer Babel

Rainer Babel (* 1955 ) is a German historian . Since 1986 he has been a scientific advisor and department head of the early modern period at the German Historical Institute in Paris (DHIP).

Babel studied history, political science and German in Munich. In 1982 the state examination followed and in 1986 the doctorate. In 2001 he completed his habilitation at the LMU Munich . Babel was a lecturer at the University of Bonn (1993–1997), at the University of Zurich (2004) and at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken (2005). He is also a member of the Görres Society .
