Rainer Elschen

Rainer Leonhard Elschen (* 1951 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German economist and professor emeritus at the University of Duisburg-Essen .

Life

Rainer Elschen studied economics at the University of Bochum . He received his doctorate in 1981 with the dissertation Problems of knowledge transfer using the example of risk behavior in group decisions and obtained his habilitation in 1987 on the subject of institutional or personal taxation of corporate profits? also at the University of Bochum with Dieter Schneider (economist) . In 1989 he accepted the call to the economics faculty of the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg, where he held the chair for business taxation until 1993. This was followed by professorships for corporate management and corporate taxation at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (1993–1997) and for finance and corporate taxation at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (1997–1998). From 1998 he held the chair for finance & banking at the University of Duisburg-Essen , Essen campus. Elschen retired at a ceremony at the University of Duisburg-Essen at the end of June 2017.

In addition, Rainer Elschen is involved in a variety of ways. He was the founding senator of the FOM - University of Economics and Management and has been on the research advisory board since 2015. Elschen is head of studies at the Administration and Business Academy in Essen and Oberhausen. He was a member of the board of the Federal Association of VWAen from 2015 to 2017. He is also on the board of the European Center for Financial Services and as a senior advisor and member of the advisory board of WEPEX Unternehmensberatung. He has made a name for himself as a company founder and member of the supervisory and advisory board.

Private

Elschen is married and has two daughters.
