Rainer Guski

Rainer Hans Guski (born April 4, 1941 in Schlochau , West Prussia ) is a German environmental psychologist , university professor and non-fiction author .

Life

Rainer Guski carried out experimental studies on sound intensity and was awarded a doctorate in philosophy in 1975 at the Free University of Berlin with the dissertation An experimental study on the structure of the effects of sound intensity - situation assessment - performance .

As early as 1983 he was teaching general psychology and environmental psychology at the Ruhr University in Bochum and was head of the cognitive and environmental psychology working group in the Faculty of Psychology there. He worked with the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and until 2015 was the head of the noise impact study Noise-Related Annoyance, Cognition, and Health (NORAH), the largest German study on the noise impact of air, road and rail traffic.
