Rainer Herbst

Rainer Herbst (born June 2, 1945 in Sankt Andreasberg ) is a German artist in the fields of painting, printing, graphics, drawing, plastic, sculpture and objects. He has lived in Cologne since 1954 . His material images are particularly characteristic of the artistic work.

Life

Rainer Herbst studied from 1963 to 1970 at the Cologne Werkschulen with Professors Friedrich Vordemberge and Karl Marx . In 1967 he became a master student of Friedrich Vordemberge. He has been represented in exhibitions since 1965. Herbst has lived in Cologne as a freelance artist since 1970.

Material images composed of various objets trouvée characterize his work. With his collages, in which he incorporates objects made of metal, wicker, wood and other materials, Herbst wants to give things a new meaning or symbolic content.
