Rainer Hoppe

Rainer Hoppe (born January 26, 1962 in Duisburg ) is a German water polo player and coach.

He won the bronze medal with the German national water polo team at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . Furthermore, he was third in the world championship in 1982 with the national team, third in the European championship in 1985 and world cup winner in 1985. In total, he played 142 international matches for Germany.

In the club Rainer Hoppe played in the water polo Bundesliga for Duisburg 98 , SC Aegir Uerdingen , SSF Delphin Wuppertal and Düsseldorf SC 1898 from 1979 to 1998. He was, among other things, ten times German runner-up and one German cup winner. In 1986, 1988 and 1990 he was the top scorer in the German Water Polo League. With 1,324 goals, he is the record scorer in the Bundesliga.

In 1997 he completed his studies as a qualified trainer of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).
