Rainer Lagoni

Rainer Lagoni (* 1941 ) is a German legal scholar .

After graduating from high school, Lagoni did military service in the German Federal Navy from 1961 to 1963 .

He then studied law at the Universities of Kiel , Geneva and Dublin from 1963 to 1968 . The legal traineeship followed and in 1972 the doctorate to Dr. jur. with work The political parties in the constitutional system of the Republic of Ireland . From 1973 he worked as a research assistant and later as a research assistant at the Institute for International Law at the University of Kiel (since 1995: Walther Schücking Institute for International Law ). From 1976 to 1977 he studied at Columbia Law School in New York and obtained the title LL.M. ; In 1977 he also obtained a diploma from the Academie de Droit International in The Hague . As early as 1982 he received the professorship for public maritime law at the then newly created Institute for Maritime Law and Maritime Trade Law at the University of Hamburg .

In recognition of his special services, the Maritime Law Foundation awarded the Rainer Lagoni Prize named after him for the first time in 2018 for outstanding achievements in the field of "Maritime Business Law".
