Rainer Wüst

Rainer Wüst (* 1943 ) is a German mathematician ; from 1975 to 2008 he was a professor at the Technical University of Berlin .

Wüst studied mathematics at the University of Munich from 1962 to 1968 , then he was Günter Hellwig's assistant at RWTH Aachen University until 1975 . In 1970 he received his doctorate there with a thesis on "Stability of self-adjointness in the face of disorders", after which he completed his habilitation.

In 1975, Wüst was appointed to a professorship for mathematics at the Technical University of Berlin, which he held until he retired in September 2008. He represented mathematical physics there and also researched functional analysis . His teaching activity in Berlin was only interrupted by research semesters at Princeton University and Modena University .
