Rainiharo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rainiharo († February 10, 1852 ) was Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Madagascar from 1833 to 1852 .

He came from the high nobility of the Merina people and made a military career and was married to Queen Ranavalona I for the second time . His sons Rainivoninahitriniony and Rainilaiarivony succeeded him in the post of Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Army. Rainiharo supported the Alt Hova party, which wanted to push back the influence of European states and ways of life.

In the office of Prime Minister he tried to prevent colonization by France or England. Persecution of Christians and the expulsion of almost all foreigners (especially Christian missionaries) should support this project.
