Rajmil Fischman

Rajmil Fischman (* 1956 in Lima ) is a Peruvian composer and music teacher .

Fischman attended the National Conservatory in Lima and studied electrical engineering at the Israel Institute of Technology . He studied conducting and composition with Abel Ehrlich at the Rubin Music Academy of Tel Aviv University . From 1985 he continued his studies at the University of York with John Paynter and Richard Orton and graduated in 1991 with a Ph.D. from.

From 1990 to 1995 he was chief conductor and artistic director of the Keele Philharmonic Society , from 1998 to 2000 music director and from 2001 to 2004 director of the music technology program at Keele University . There he established the branch of study for digital music technology, founded the laboratory for computer music and works as director for music technology research and professor for composition. He is also a member of the Red de Arte Sonoro Latinoamericano , (RedASLA), the Círculo de Composición del Perú (Circomper) and the Sonic Arts Network .

For his composition Cold Fire for string quartet and tape, Fischman received second prize in the Pierre Schaeffer Competition for Computer Music in 1998 . Alma Latina was released on Lontano Records , and his orchestral composition Magister Ludi was published by the Israel Music Institute . In addition to his work as a music teacher and composer, Fischman also works scientifically in the field of theory and aesthetics of electroacoustic music.
