Rajo (or Radjou or Rājū , Kurdish Reco [ rəɟo ]; Arabic راجو Rādschū , DMG Rāǧū ) is a small town in the Afrin district in Aleppo governorate in northwest Syria .

Rajo is located about 20 kilometers northwest of Afrin on the Baylan plateau in the Kurd Dagh region . The place has almost 4000 inhabitants and is the seat of the municipality of the same name with about 65 villages or farms. The municipality of Rajo has about 67,000 inhabitants and an area of ​​352 km².

The name Rajo goes back to the Kurdish family of the same name of the tribe ( Eşiret ) Schaykh (k) an. Rajo has been on the Baghdad Railway since 1912 .

Turkish troops occupied the site on March 3, 2018 as part of the Turkish military offensive on Afrin .
