Ralf Elger

Ralf Elger (* 1960 ) is a German orientalist .

Life

In 1988 he obtained his MA at the University of Bonn , Islamic Studies. After completing his doctorate in Bonn in 1993 , he was a lecturer in Islamic Studies and Arabic Studies at the University of Bamberg from 1994 to 1999, and from 1999 to 2000 academic assistant at the Chair of Islamic Studies and Arabic Studies there. After issuance of the 2001 teaching qualification for the subject of Islamic Studies by the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures in Bamberg he was from 2002 to 2004 a lecturer at the Religion Seminar of the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich . From 2002 to 2003 he represented Stefan Wilds' chair for Islamic studies at the University of Bonn. In 2003 he taught as a visiting professor for Islamic studies at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz . From 2004 to 2005 he represented the Ottoman Department of Hans Georg Majer at the LMU Munich . From 2006 to 2007 he represented the Thomas Jürgen Bauers chair in Arabic at the University of Münster . In 2007/2008 he represented the chair of Hans Georg Majers at the LMU Munich. In 2008 he represented Stefan Leders ' chair in Arabic at the University of Halle . Since 2009 he has been W3 Professor of Islamic Studies / Arabic Studies in Halle an der Saale .
