Ralf Hand

Ralf Hand (born June 24, 1964 in Trier ) is a German botanist. Its botanical author abbreviation is " hand ".

Career

Hand is the son of the optician Rolf Hand. After completing school education up to high school in Trier, he began studying biology in Bonn in 1987 , which he completed in 1993 with the thesis The genus Hieracium L. in the Eifel and adjacent areas - studies on distribution, sociology and endangerment of the main and intermediate species . He wrote the dissertation revision of the species of Thalictrum subsectio Thalictrum (Ranunculaceae) occurring in Europe at the Free University of Berlin , Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem . He worked there until the end of 2018. His main area of ​​work is the vascular plants of Central Europe and Cyprus. Of the latter, he was co-author of a checklist. He worked on the genus Thalictrum in the Hegi and Rothmaler .

Hand has been chairman of the Society for Research into Flora in Germany since 2017 .

Ralf Hand has (partly together with colleagues) so far (as of 2020) described over 50 new taxa (including recombinations).
