Ralf Risse

Ralf Risse (born July 9, 1964 in Hagen ) is a former German basketball player and coach. He made 86 full international matches for Germany. During his playing career, the 1.95 meter tall winger was nicknamed "X".

Player career

Risse played in the youth department of SSV Hagen, was with the club German champions in the A-youth and made the leap into the Bundesliga team. In 1989 he moved to Bundesliga competitor Steiner Bayreuth and returned to Hagen in 1992. In 1994 he led the team, which was now trading under the name Brandt Hagen , to win the DBB Cup.

In 1996 he went to the second division team Salzkotten, where he played for four years. He then worked for Boele-Kabel in the 2nd regional league. In the 2002/03 season Risse completed four more missions for BG DEK / Fichte Hagen in the 2nd Bundesliga at the age of 38.

With VfK Hagen he won in 2010 (but was not used in the finals due to injury) and in 2014 the German championship in the age group 35+. With SG Boele-Kabel / Telgte he became German over 50 champions in 2018.

National team

Risse took part with the selected teams of the German Basketball Federation in the 1981 European Cadet Championship as well as in the 1982 European Junior Championship and the 1983 Junior World Championship.

Between 1984 and 1992 he made 86 appearances for the German senior national team . He took part in the 1986 World Cup in Spain .

In 1989 he won the bronze medal at the Universiade in Duisburg with the German student selection .

Coaching career

In the 2005/06 season Risse held the post of assistant coach at the then second division team Phoenix Hagen , in the following season he worked as head coach. In the 2007/08 season he was head coach of the regional division Salzkotten.
