Ralf Roth (historian)

Ralf Roth (born May 6, 1957 in Mainz ) is a German historian .

Life

Roth completed a degree in Middle and Modern History, German Studies and Philosophy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 1996 he was with the topic "City and Bourgeoisie in Frankfurt am Main 1760-1914. A special path from the class to the modern civil society ”with Lothar Gall . In 2003 he completed his habilitation in the Department of Philosophy and History at the University of Frankfurt am Main with the subject “The rule over space and time. The influence of the railway on German society from 1800 to 1914 ”. Since 2009 he has been an adjunct professor at the history seminar of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

Roth's areas of work are traffic, social and urban history .
