Ralf T. Vögele

Ralf Thomas Vögele (born October 19, 1963 in Gottmadingen ) is a German biologist , particularly in microbiology . He is Professor of Phytopathology and Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Hohenheim .

Live and act

The elementary school in Gottmadingen was followed by attending the Friedrich-Wöhler-Gymnasium in Singen with the Abitur in 1983. After studying biology at the University of Konstanz , Vögele completed a postgraduate course in microbiology, became a research assistant in the department of biology in 1987 and magna cum laude in 1993 Dr. rer nat doctorate. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the DFG at the College of Biological Science at the University of Guelph and McMaster University in Hamilton .

After Vögele's return to the University of Konstanz, he completed his habilitation at the mathematics and natural sciences section of this university. The title of the habilitation thesis: The Role of Haustoria in the Biotrophic Interaction of the Rust Fungus Uromyces fabae and its Host Plant Vicia faba . This was followed by the award of the Venia legendi for the subjects of phytopathology and microbiology as well as the appointment to the academic council. In 2010, Vögele accepted the Phytopathology Professorship at the University of Hohenheim, and is also the Managing Director of the Institute for Phytomedicine (2010–2014 and since 2017) and Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

Ralf Vögele is married, the couple has a daughter.
