Ralf Vollbrecht

Ralf Vollbrecht (born September 25, 1956 in Schötmar ) is a German educational scientist , media educator and university lecturer at the Technical University of Dresden .

After graduating from high school in Bad Salzuflen in 1975, Ralf Vollbrecht completed a degree in pedagogy, sociology, psychology and mathematics at Bielefeld University (diploma and teaching degree). He received his doctorate in 1985 with Dieter Baacke and Wilfried Ferchhoff on biographical constructions of 13 to 15 year old youngsters (1982–1985) and completed his habilitation in 1993 as a Thyssen Foundation scholarship holder (1990–1993) at Bielefeld University on biographical transformation processes of young people in the context of German unity. After substituting professorships in Essen, Augsburg and Bielefeld, he has been Professor of Media Education at the Technical University of Dresden since 2000 .

Ralf Vollbrecht was a long-time member and chairman of the board of trustees of the Children and Youth Film Center in Germany (KJF). Since 2013 he and Christine Dallmann have published the open access magazine Medienwelten - magazine for media education .
