Ralph Pitchford (born February 23, 1962 in Bloemfontein ) is a South African enduro athlete and rally navigator.

Career

In 1980 he took part in motocross competitions for the first time. In 1989 he became the South African motocross champion in the class up to 200 cm³. In 1999 he took part in the International Six-Day Tour in Portugal.

From 1998 to 2004 he was a mechanic for Alfie Cox , Jordi Arcarons , Luc Alphand and Colin McRae .

In 2004, Pitchford became Alfie Cox's co-pilot in marathon rallying . In 2004 and 2005 they were able to win the South African Championship. In 2006 they finished 15th in the Dakar Rally . In August he became co-driver of Mark Miller , against whom he competed in enduro races in the 1990s, at Volkswagen Motorsport . In 2007 they finished fourth in the Dakar Rally , fifth in the Morocco Rally and took class victory in the Baja 500 . In 2008 they finished second in the Rally dos Sertões . At the 2009 Dakar Rally , Miller and Pitchford in the Race Touareg came second in the overall standings.
