Ralph St. Germain

Ralph E. Saint-Germain (born January 19, 1904 in Ottawa , Ontario , † August 2, 1974 ibid) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach .

Career

Ralph St. Germain attended McGill University , where he played ice hockey and Canadian football while studying . From 1926 to 1928 he was team captainthe ice hockey team. When he competed in a college game in 1928 against the orders of his doctor and despite illness and high fever, he collapsed on the ice and almost died. In 1931 he graduated from McGill University with a degree in economics. From 1931 to 1936 he played in amateur hockey for the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association, which changed its name to Montreal Royals in 1932. As a guest player, he represented Canada with the Port Arthur Bearcats at the 1936 Winter Olympics. Following the tournament, he worked as an ice hockey coach for the junior team at McGill University. He also played from 1937 to 1940 for the Ottawa Senators from the Quebec Amateur Hockey League.

International

For Canada , St. Germain took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he and his team won the silver medal.
