Ralph Waldo Trine (born September 9, 1866 in Mount Morris (Illinois) , † 1958 ) was an American writer .

Life

Ralph Waldo Trine was a philosopher, teacher and author of many books. He was one of the first representatives of the Neugeist movement . His work had a major impact on many of his contemporaries, including Ernest Holmes , the founder of the Science of Mind movement . No other writer in the Neugeist movement sold more books than Trine, and his works spread far beyond the movement's borders - many people read the books without knowing that they contained the Neugeist teachings.

Trine was born in Illinois, studied history and political science at the University of Wisconsin and Johns Hopkins University . He was very interested in social and economic problems. After spending some time in postgraduate studies, he worked as a correspondent for The Boston Daily Evening Transcript . During this time he built a log cabin on the edge of a pine grove - an expression of his connection with nature and the simple things in life.

He married a literature student, Grace Hyde Trine, and had a son (Robert).

Trine began to write in the 90s, influenced by the works of Immanuel Hermann Fichte , Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry Drummond - Trine's book “Was alle Welt sucht” takes up the themes from Drummond's book “The greatest Thing in the World”. His most important book "In Harmony with the Infinite" was published in 1897 and sold over 2 million times. Trine's teachings are discussed to this day. Its readers included Queen Victoria , Jenifer Gayner, and Henry Ford . It is interesting that Henry Ford, the pioneer in mass production of automobiles, justifies his success with the fact that he has read the book "In Harmony with the Infinite". He ordered a large quantity of the book and distributed it among other major industrialists.

Trine wrote well into old age and published over a dozen books. He died in California at the age of 91.

Trine never strived for wealth or fame - his name is only known to a few people - but his teachings influenced many people around the world.
