Ramazan Salman

Ramazan Salman (* 1960 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish social scientist and medical sociologist who has lived in Germany since 1966 .

Since 1992 he has been the managing director of the Ethno-Medical Center and first chairman of the Institute for transcultural care e. V., as well as member of the clinical ethics committee of the Hannover Medical School. Since 2003 he has been leading the MiMi health project in 38 cities and municipalities for the BKK Federal Association and other sponsors (including five federal states). In addition, he leads projects on poverty reduction (through financial and asset formation) and integration through sport (Action Alliance for Healthy Lifestyles and Living Worlds, Frankfurt / Main). The “MiMi (c)” model has received several awards (e.g. Janssen-Cilag Future Prize) and rated as exemplary (e.g. by the World Health Organization, WHO, in the context of the search for practical models).

Salman was named Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the Schwab Foundation (2008) and the International Ashoka Society (2006) for his achievements in promoting health among the disadvantaged and as an innovator. Salman was invited to the German government's integration summit by Chancellor Angela Merkel and is subsequently a member of the German government's integration forum.

He is a board member of the German-Turkish Medical Society and a founding member of the German-Turkish Society for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosocial Health e. V. He is also co-founder and spokesman for the Federal Working Group for Intercultural Dentistry and Oral Prophylaxis and recipient of the Wrigley Prophylaxis Prize. His project “Health prevention for children in socially deprived areas”, carried out together with the Stade Health Department, was awarded the Quality Prize of the Academy for Public Health and the Prix d 'ÖGD in 2004.
