Rampurhat is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal .

The city belongs to the Birbhum district . Rampurhat has the status of a municipality . The city is divided into 17 wards (constituencies).

Demographics

The city's population is 57,833 according to the 2011 census. Rampurhat has a gender ratio of 953 women per 1000 men and thus a common surplus of men for India. The literacy rate was 85.7% in 2011. Almost 78% of the population are Hindus , around 22% are Muslims and less than 1% belong to another or no religion. Children under 6 years of age are 9.8% of the population. Bengali is the main language in and around the city.

Infrastructure

Rampurhat is well connected to Kolkata and other cities of West Bengal by bus and rail. Many express and passenger trains pass through Rampurhat Station.
